چکیده

The cold spraying of ceramic materials is widely acknowledged as a difficult process because it necessitates the feedstock powder particles experiencing plastic deformation for deposition on substrate. problem arises due to brittle properties such titanium dioxide (TiO2), combined with lack understanding bonding mechanisms. In this study, TiO2 coatings were deposited onto copper and aluminum substrates adhesion strength was evaluated investigate mechanism. influence substrate hardness remaining surface oxide layer investigated by annealing various temperatures. results showed that higher than Furthermore, decreased increasing temperature both materials. These indicate softer advantageous adhesion. Annealing led thermal softening substrate; however, thickness increased. Therefore, occurred between cold-sprayed particle newly deform surface, which yielded strength. main mechanism metallurgical, similarly metallic coatings.

Characterization of SiO2-TiO2 Coatings on 316l Stainless Steel Substrates

This paper reports nano-structured SiO2-TiO2 coatings using the sol-gel technique on 316L steel substrates. Nanoindentation, surface analysis and corrosion resistance tests were performed on different samples. The nanomechanical tests allowed to compare uncoated steel samples (Eavg = 193.24 GPa and mean hardness of 2.63 GPa and coated steel samples (Eavg = 287.38 GPa and mean hardness of 5.74 G...

Transmission electron microscopy of cold sprayed 1100 aluminum coating

Cold-spraying of 1100 Al powder particles onto 1100 Al substrate was accomplished using carrier gases 100 vol.% He and a mixture of He–20 vol.% N2. TEM characterization correlates very well the occurrence of dislocations, presence of oxide, and surface instability phenomenon with observed mechanical and corrosion properties of the cold-sprayed coating. 2005 Acta Materialia Inc. Effect of TiO2 addition on the microstructure and nanomechanical properties of Al2O3 Suspension Plasma Sprayed coatings

Alumina-titania coatings are widely used in industry for wear, abrasion or corrosion protection components. Such layers are commonly deposited by atmospheric plasma spraying (APS) using powder as feedstock. In this study, both Al2O3 and Al2O3-13 wt% TiO2 coatings were deposited on austenitic stainless steel coupons by suspension plasma spraying (SPS). Two commercial suspensions of nanosized Al2...

Study of Wear Behaviour of Hvof and Cold Sprayed Coatings on Boiler Steels

In this study two commonly used steels in boiler plants, i.e. (SAE-213) T-22 and SA516 (Grade-70) were coated with different thermal spray processes namely HVOF and cold spray. The coating powder used was made up of NiCrTiCRe powder. The performance of the coated as well as uncoated material was investigated using a pin-on-disc machine [Model: Wear and Friction Monitor Tester TR-20], supplied b...

Bonding Mechanism from the Impact of Thermally Sprayed Solid Particles

Power particles are mainly in solid state prior to impact on substrates from high velocity oxyfuel (HVOF) thermal spraying. The bonding between particles and substrates is critical to ensure the quality of coating. Finite element analysis (FEA) models are developed to simulate the impingement process of solid particle impact on substrates. This numerical study examines the bonding mechanism bet...
